One of seven people charged in ‘DRAINED’ Investigation in custody, will appear in court Monday
SUMMARY: Tomorrow, the first of seven individuals charged in connection to suspicious waterline repair contracts in Houston will appear in court. KPRC 2 has been investigating this matter for two years, leading to a grand jury charging seven people, including a former Houston water department manager. Only one individual, Patrice Lee, is in custody; she faces charges including abuse of official capacity and bribery. Others charged, such as Andrew Thomas and Danielle Herz, haven’t turned themselves in yet. They are accused of funneling millions of taxpayer dollars intended for emergency repairs. The likelihood of recovering the stolen funds appears dim, but jail time serves as a potential consequence.

SUMMARY: The National Hurricane Center’s 7 a.m. advisory reports that the hurricane remains a Category 3 with 120 mph winds, impacting the Cayman Islands, where hurricane warnings are in effect. The storm, though downgraded from Category 4, is still powerful. It is expected to make landfall south of Cancun early tomorrow as potentially a Category 1 hurricane, then move across the Yucatan into the southern Gulf of Mexico. A second landfall is likely south of Brownsville, near the Mexico-South Texas border, early Monday. Long-range models suggest the storm could eventually impact parts of Central and North Texas.
Hurricane Beryl was dropped to a Category 3 hurricane, but it is still a dangerous storm. FOX 4 meteorologist Kylie Capps shows the storms latest track, including the increasing chances that it will make landfall in Texas.

President Biden tells Democratic governors he’s staying in race
SUMMARY: President Joe Biden remains in the presidential race despite some pressure from within the Democratic Party to withdraw after a troubling debate performance. Biden’s administration and campaign are filling his schedule with public appearances and private meetings, aiming to recover from the debate setback. Campaign efforts focus on reassuring donors and minimizing defections among Democratic lawmakers. A new campaign ad seeks to bolster voter confidence. Some Democrats worry about the potential impact on down-ballot races if Biden continues. Meanwhile, former President Trump is preparing to accept the GOP nomination. The Democratic timeline is tight, hinging on Biden’s decisions.
President Biden met with Democratic governors on Wednesday in a closed door meeting to discuss the future of his campaign. The White House has been attempting to calm down fears among donors and the party’s base after Biden struggled in the debate against Donald Trump.
