One phone call drains $17K from Houston woman’s bank account
SUMMARY: Missy Edwards, a mother of four, lost $17,635 after receiving a convincing 21-minute call from a scammer posing as a Wells Fargo banker. The caller knew detailed information like her recent transactions and account balance, making the scam believable. She was asked if she wanted to stop a wire transfer to Miami, which she hadn’t initiated. Edwards wasn’t pressured but felt uneasy and eventually realized something was wrong when the caller mentioned a suspicious supervisor shift change. Despite rushing to her bank, it was too late. Wells Fargo has since emphasized improved security measures. Edwards remains hopeful for a resolution and emphasizes caution with unsolicited bank calls.

Democrats calling for Biden to drop out may increase this week
SUMMARY: House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries met virtually with Congressional committee leaders, anticipating a significant week on Capitol Hill. Five Democrat members of Congress have already urged President Biden to step aside. The Democratic calls for Biden to reconsider his electability could amplify when Congress reconvenes after the July 4th recess. Jeffries publicly supports Biden but is privately attentive to concerns about the president’s age affecting the upcoming elections. Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy emphasized the limited time Biden has to prove his capability for a second term. The outcome of these calls for Biden to leave the race remains uncertain.
Congress is back in session this week and the number of Democratic officials calling for President Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential race could grow.

Tropical Storm Beryl Update: Latest track, impact on Dallas-Fort Worth
SUMMARY: Tropical storm Barrel is expected to make landfall earlier than anticipated, with strong organization signs suggesting potential intensification before it hits near Matagorda after 1:00 a.m. tonight. Southeastern counties are under a flood watch from tomorrow morning through Tuesday due to expected heavy rain. Though Barrel will weaken quickly post-landfall, East Texas may experience prolonged rain, while western areas may see little to no precipitation. The storm’s fast movement will result in lower rainfall totals overall, with widespread 5 to 10 inches expected around Houston. Areas near Dallas and Fort Worth will likely see significantly less rainfall, around 1 to 2 inches and less than an inch, respectively.
Tropical Storm Beryl is expected to make landfall on Monday morning in Texas. The impacts will be felt in parts of North Texas. FOX 4’s Ali Turiano takes a look at the updated track and more.

Tropical Storm Beryl: North Texas firefighters head south to help
SUMMARY: First responders from North Texas, including crews from Cedar Hill, Duncanville, and DeSoto, are deployed in San Antonio, ready to assist as Hurricane Barrel, a Category 1 storm, approaches. The Cedar Hill Fire Department's amb bus, capable of transporting up to 20 patients, is on standby to aid evacuation and relief efforts, especially for vulnerable populations like those in nursing homes. State officials, including acting Governor Dan Patrick, have urged residents in coastal areas from Corpus Christi to Galveston Island to prepare for the storm's significant wind, rain, and potential flooding. Emergency crews are poised for immediate response and recovery once the storm passes.
A 7-man team, including four firefighters from Cedar Hill, two from Duncanville and one from DeSoto are staged in San Antonio right now, waiting to see where they need to go once Beryl makes landfall.
