Plano considers new regulations for drone delivery hubs
SUMMARY: On Cyber Monday, millions of shoppers are buying products that will need to be delivered. Companies are introducing drone delivery, prompting Plano City Council to consider regulations for drone hubs. Concerns about noise, privacy, and the impact of drone operations were discussed, with one proposal requiring eight-foot masonry walls around drone hubs. Some council members dismissed concerns about noise, emphasizing that drones would have to fly along streets. Companies urged council members to visit their operations to better understand the impact of the wall requirement. A public meeting to visit a drone hub was canceled, raising questions about the potential impact on the council's vote.
Council members are examining the hubs that drones operate out of to see if regulations are necessary. Members of the drone industry say that the regulations under consideration by the City of Plano would be the first of its kind in Texas. #plano #news #dronedelivery

Hays County district clerk resigns | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Avery Anderson, elected at 19, faced numerous issues during his tenure, including failing to send jury summons, subpoenas, and protective orders. Attorneys Khloe Love and Thomas filed a lawsuit to remove him in September 2023, citing widespread concerns about his competence. In February, a judge found Anderson incompetent. A hearing was held last month to consider his temporary removal, but Anderson resigned instead, avoiding a potentially embarrassing trial. He denied incompetence in his resignation letter, attributing his errors to inexperience. District Attorney Kelly Higgins welcomed the resignation, anticipating better collaboration moving forward. Angela Shen reported for Fox 7 Austin News.

Anthony Yanez concerned as Hurricane Beryl keeps moving right
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Anthony provides an update on Hurricane Barrel, which is nearing northern Mexico with a well-defined eye, moving West Northwest at 15 mph and winds at 65 mph. Expected to intensify, it’s shifting rightward, affecting Corpus Christi less and potentially hitting Matagorda Bay directly by Monday. A hurricane watch is in effect from Matagorda County to South Texas, with storm surges from three to five feet. Concerns stem from potential rightward movement towards Southeast Texas, not stalling like Harvey in 2017. Models show varying impacts, but significant rainfall (up to 7 inches) is expected in Southeast Texas, with flooding risks on Monday and Tuesday.

When will Hurricane Beryl hit Texas?
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Ali Terano reports that the storm system Barrel is headed towards Texas, expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico as a tropical storm. Over the next 24-36 hours, it may intensify to Hurricane strength by Sunday night. The storm’s track has shifted eastward, with landfall now anticipated near Corpus Christi on Monday afternoon, potentially as a strong Category 1 or borderline Category 2 hurricane. The storm could bring 5-10 inches of rain, with isolated areas seeing over a foot, particularly impacting East and Southeast Texas. Warm Gulf waters and favorable conditions will likely aid the storm’s intensification. Residents should closely monitor updates.
