President Biden’s immigration policy could grant citizenship to 500K immigrants
SUMMARY: President Biden is set to announce plans to offer new protections to hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants, potentially impacting about half a million spouses and 50,000 children and young adults whose parent is married to a U.S. citizen. Qualifying non-citizens must have lived in the U.S. for at least 10 years and will be able to obtain work permits. The White House claims this policy will strengthen families and the economy. This move seeks to balance Biden's recent border crackdown, which upset many Democratic lawmakers. Critics argue it rewards illegal behavior, angering those who immigrated legally.
The White House estimates the new policy will lift the threat of deportation for nearly half a million spouses, along with 50,000 children and young adults whose parent is married to a U.S. citizen.

How a problem at Lake Livingston Dam could impact water for millions in Houston
SUMMARY: The Trinity River Authority is monitoring the Lake Livingston Dam due to potential damage from recent rain and flooding. Although there’s no immediate risk, any failure could severely impact the Greater Houston area. Lake Livingston, the third-largest lake in Texas, holds 185 quadrillion gallons of water and supplies 60% of Houston’s daily water needs. A dam failure would disrupt water supply and pressure for residents across Houston, Harris County, and three surrounding counties. Despite other water sources like Lake Houston, they wouldn’t suffice. Currently, there’s no danger, but the situation remains under review.
A Lake Livingston Dam is now being watched for a “potential failure.”
The Trinity River Authority, which oversees Lake Livingston, the dam and the Trinity River, shared the declaration on Friday.

Biden debate claim debunked
SUMMARY: The Biden-Harris campaign remains steadfast despite internal party pressure to withdraw after a poor performance against former President Trump. Biden asserted his determination to win at a North Carolina rally. His aides acknowledged a bad night but are focused on future strategies. Biden raised $27 million from Thursday to Friday, amid growing calls, including from The New York Times editorial board, to exit the race. At a New York campaign event, Biden reiterated his competence and truthfulness. However, he made inaccuracies, such as falsely claiming no military deaths occurred under his leadership despite known casualties.
