South Texas coast dodges direct hit from Tropical Storm Alberto, using the opportunity to prepare

Published

SUMMARY: As Tropical Storm Alberto approaches Mexico, impacts are evident across the Texas Gulf Coast from Houston to the Mexico border. Near Port Aransas, just south of Corpus Christi, strong winds and rising waves are beginning to be felt. Despite the storm, some visitors continue their vacations, treating the scenario as a preparation for future weather events. South Texas residents use this as a practice run for an anticipated severe hurricane season. Conditions in Corpus Christi are worsening with increasing winds and storm surges, prompting locals to prepare by charging devices and securing necessary supplies.

The first tropical system of the year is missing the United States, but that doesn’t mean we’re not feeling the impacts.
Tropical Storm Alberto formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday. Forecast to make landfall in Mexico, the wind and rain from Alberto can be felt hundreds of miles away.
