Hurricane Beryl makes landfall; here’s what to expect now

Published

on

www.youtube.com – FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth – 2024-07-08 04:56:56

SUMMARY: Hurricane Barrel has made landfall near Brazoria and Freeport with sustained winds of 70 mph and gusts up to 90 mph. The storm intensified rapidly before hitting land and, thankfully, did not linger over the Gulf, preventing greater devastation. Now moving inland, Barrel is producing heavy rain and potential flooding, expected to track west of Houston into East Texas. Rainfall will be significant in areas like Palestine, Tyler, and Texarkana. Although Dallas sees some rain, the heaviest bands are breaking apart due to sinking air. The major weather event today will be the rain following the storm into East Texas.

Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Monday morning along the Gulf Coast. FOX 4 meteorologist Evan Andrews is tracking the storm’s impact.

Power outages have increased significantly, rising from 15,000 to about 990,000 and are expected to grow as the storm progresses.
