SUMMARY: After the 2024 presidential election, Timothy Simpkins is on trial for three counts of attempted murder in Terrence County. Simpkins, a suspect in the 2021 Timber View High School shooting, was captured in a cell phone fighting with another student before the incident. The shooting injured two students and a teacher, Shiny McNeely, who didn't realize she had been shot at the time. During her testimony, McNeely revealed that she later discovered the sharp pain was caused by a bullet. Prosecutors presented hallway surveillance video of the shooting before the trial recessed.

Testimony continues today in the trial of a student accused of shooting and injuring three people inside a North Texas high school. The defense will get the chance to present its case after lunch.

SUMMARY: Avery Anderson, elected at 19, faced numerous issues during his tenure, including failing to send jury summons, subpoenas, and protective orders. Attorneys Khloe Love and Thomas filed a lawsuit to remove him in September 2023, citing widespread concerns about his competence. In February, a judge found Anderson incompetent. A hearing was held last month to consider his temporary removal, but Anderson resigned instead, avoiding a potentially embarrassing trial. He denied incompetence in his resignation letter, attributing his errors to inexperience. District Attorney Kelly Higgins welcomed the resignation, anticipating better collaboration moving forward. Angela Shen reported for Fox 7 Austin .

Published

www.youtube.com – KPRC 2 Click2Houston – 2024-07-05 19:28:00

SUMMARY: Meteorologist Anthony provides an update on Hurricane Barrel, which is nearing northern Mexico with a well-defined eye, moving West Northwest at 15 mph and winds at 65 mph. Expected to intensify, it’s shifting rightward, affecting Corpus Christi less and potentially hitting Matagorda Bay directly by Monday. A hurricane watch is in effect from Matagorda County to South Texas, with storm surges from three to five feet. Concerns stem from potential rightward movement towards Southeast Texas, not stalling like Harvey in 2017. Models show varying impacts, but significant rainfall (up to 7 inches) is expected in Southeast Texas, with flooding risks on Monday and Tuesday.

www.youtube.com – KPRC 2 Click2Houston – 2024-07-05 18:58:09

SUMMARY: Church members in Livingston are worried that a giant sinkhole near Life Vine Church could swallow their place of worship. The hole, which widens with each storm, has already consumed parts of the church property, including an awning and picnic tables. The associate pastor, Justin Freyer, states that the sinkhole poses a significant public risk and has hindered their ability to serve meals to the community. The city manager says they’re finalizing repair plans, but some residents feel the city isn’t acting quickly enough. Another sinkhole has also damaged parts of the local SPCA. Residents hope the city will address these urgent issues soon.
