Twitter vs Threads: Austinites react | FOX 7 Austin

www.youtube.com – FOX 7 Austin – 2023-07-08 18:31:52

SUMMARY: The newly launched app Threads, similar to Twitter, has gained over 70 million users since its launch on Wednesday. Threads is designed for short messages to a wider audience, appealing to those looking for an alternative to Twitter. Twitter accuses the app of being a copycat, claiming that Mark Zuckerberg hired former Twitter employees and used shared trade secrets to develop Threads. Twitter owner Elon Musk commented on Twitter saying that competition is fine, but cheating is not acceptable. Some users feel that Threads is just a knockoff Twitter and that social media apps in general have become repetitive.

Meta, parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has launched a new social platform, one that has drawn comparisons to and ire from Twitter. FOX 7 Austin's Meredith Aldis takes a look at the two platforms and gets some reaction from Austinites.
